Modders run the official DLSS 5 model on unsupported games
Modders report up to 90 percent gain over the leaked build, while Nvidia states the new model uses 20 percent less VRAM.

Nvidia’s latest DLSS Neural Rendering model, build 310.9.16.0, shipped inside NBA 2K27 on its October update. Modder Renan Maniero extracted it and released it for unsupported games. Comparisons come from community reports on X: Gaming Optimized measured up to 90 percent better performance than the previous NR model in The Witcher 3 with native DLSS 5, and broader modder comparisons show up to 40 percent. Nvidia’s own figures for the new NR model: 20 percent less VRAM at 4K, neural workloads processed up to 2x faster, and a footprint cut of 24 percent to roughly 118 million parameters.
The numbers above are the modders’ and Nvidia’s own, and none has been independently reproduced yet. A related project, a solo port of the full DLSS feature set to RDNA2 through RDNA4 cards, ran in the same week’s coverage and is tracked separately.

Why it matters under load: DLSS gains measured on modder builds are not gains on a production machine, and the version drift between the leaked and official models changes any benchmark someone copies from X.
